THE BRITISH SPEARFISHING ASSOCIATION COMMITTEE invites all Spearfishermen to a fund raising pairs competition at Ringstead Bay on Sunday 26th September 2004.  This Competition is open to anyone, so please come along as it should be an excellent day.

How it Works

All competitors pair off (don’t worry if you arrive on your own, as there will be plenty of people in the same position as you) and will fish in that pair all day.  Each pair will tow one float.  The combined catch of the pair will be added together to make one catch, which will count towards the competition.  All other rules as per normal BSA rules.

All fish as per national rules.

About the area

There is one main reef that runs parallel to the shore, all the way across Ringstead Bay itself, the reef dries out in places at low tide.  The reef holds all the usual species you would expect to see on it, including Bass, Mullett and Pollack.  Halfway towards Osmington you will find a  Wreck in shallow water, only a few yards from the beach, which holds the odd fish or two.  The best fish are likely to come from White Nothe or leading up to it, as there is plenty of good ground which seems to hold the bigger Bass.
